Code of Ethics
Together with the Standards of Practice and Working with Clients - Fostering Safety, this
document provides a framework within which a Sound Healing Academy (SHA) student or
certified practitioner agrees to work to protect the public's interests and safety.
In addition, the Code of Ethics is intended to protect the interests of SHA students and
certified practitioners in their practice.
NOTE: SHA will only endorse and support the practice of students who successfully
complete the Level 2 assessment process. Sound Healing is an unregulated profession,
and SHA is working to protect the skills and competencies gained only through full
completion of the Level 2 Diplomas.
1. SHA Students & Certified Practitioner Obligations To Their Clients
1.1 Students and certified practitioners shall always act according to the SHA Standards of
Practice.1.2 Students and practitioners agree to conduct themselves honorably, courteously, and with
due diligence in their relations with clients and the public.
1.3 Students and practitioners shall work cooperatively and respectfully with other health
and well-being professionals (including other SHA students and teachers/tutors), recognizing
the particular contribution each makes to the client's well-being.
1.4 Students and practitioners shall provide equal treatment to their clients, irrespective of
ethnicity, culture, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation, or religious and spiritual beliefs.
2. Professional Behaviour
2.1 SHA expects all students and certified practitioners to conduct themselves professionally
and to be aware of their responsibilities as described in the SHA Standards of Practice.
2.2 Students and certified practitioners must not claim to 'cure', nor guarantee recovery.
However, the possible health benefits of integral sound healing may be described.
2.3 Students and certified practitioners have an implicit duty within the law to keep all
information (and views formed) about clients entirely confidential between the member and
the client concerned unless otherwise agreed in writing with informed consent.3. Professional behavior between sound healer and client
2.4 SHA students and certified practitioners will protect SHA's reputation and intellectual
property and not share materials or resources developed by SHA outside of their own
learning and practice.
2.5 SHA students and certified practitioners will be positive advocates and ambassadors for
the SHA integral sound healing approach.
2.6 SHA students and certified practitioners who breach the Code of Ethics or Standards of
Practice may have their course or certificate revoked.
2.7 Only students who complete the assessment process in a Level 2 Diploma can practice
fully as a Sound Healing Practitioner and be associated with the SHA brand and model.
3. Professional Behaviour Between Sound Healing Student/Practitioner & Client
3.1 Intimate personal relations between a student or certified practitioner and their client, or
sexual or threatening behavior, may render a member liable to prosecution under Criminal
Law. Even if there is no prosecution, such behavior is unethical and will be treated as severe
professional misconduct by SHA, and relevant disciplinary action will be taken.
3.2 If a student is subject to a client's unwanted attention, it must be reported to SHA HQ as
soon as possible. All allegations of misconduct involving a student will be examined very
carefully.
3.3 The student/certified practitioner must ensure clarity in the sound healing relationship
and maintain professional boundaries.
3.3 Actively seeking out clients of another practitioner to persuade them to take up your
services instead is considered unethical and contravenes the SHA Code of Ethics.
Consequently, members should apply a clear and proper procedure when exchanging or
referring clients or dealing with the clients of another practitioner/therapist or clinic. This
would mitigate misunderstandings and help to manage expectations.
